The house covenants
Every guest agrees to these before taking a seat. They exist so twelve strangers can be at ease with one another quickly.
Presence
Phones and recording devices are surrendered at the door and returned when the evening ends.
Pouches lock at the door and open at the end of the evening. If you need your phone for any reason, ask the host and it will be opened immediately.
Solo arrival
Come alone. If there’s someone you’d love to bring, name them in your application instead.
Tables are composed person by person. Arriving with a partner or friend changes the room for everyone else, so seats are never transferable.
Discretion
What is said at the table stays at the table. No one is photographed without their consent.
Generosity
Listen as well as you speak. Draw quieter people in. Disagree with ideas, never with anyone’s dignity.
Conduct
- Treat every guest, host, chef, and member of staff with courtesy.
- A no, a hesitation, or silence is an answer. Accept it the first time.
- The Seating is not a dating event or a sales floor. Don’t pitch, recruit, or pursue.
- Drink at a pace that keeps you good company.
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind means you will be asked to leave and will not be invited back.
Photography
- Guests don’t take photos or recordings. Devices stay in their pouches.
- The house may photograph the room, the table, and the food. Guests are photographed only with their consent.
- No image showing a guest is published without that guest’s approval.
- Nobody’s attendance is announced or shared publicly.
Safety
- Every dinner is hosted in person by the Curator, who is present the entire evening.
- Every guest’s identity is confirmed before an invitation is sent.
- Every venue is visited and vetted before guests are invited.
- You receive the address two hours ahead. Share it with anyone you like.
- Your pouch opens on request. If you need your phone, or need to leave, you can, without explanation.
- Guests must be 21 or older.
If anything at a dinner makes you uncomfortable, tell the host during the evening or afterward. Every concern is taken seriously and handled discreetly.
